Willaim "Hopalong Cassidy" Boyd 1895 to 1972.
Here is something Frank Dudley, one of my Dudley cousins wrote in the 'Hoppy' Guestbook, which I think sums it all up in just a few words, what William "Hopalong Cassidy" Boyd stood for, who he was, and how his fans felt about him.
"Hoppy stood for right and good and never kicking a fella when he's down. His creed was fairness and lending a hand where it is needed. But, don't do him dirty! He would ride old Topper into hell, too right a wrong, with both six guns blazing! Aside from my father, I do believe Hoppy was my first hero."- Frank Dudley -
